Inspiration

Tyra Moana beachwear is named after our founder/designer Tyra, who over the years explored her vision of eco-friendly beachwear to develop what it is today. The initial inspiration for Tyra Moana was to blend her passion for the sea and the desire to create stylish, sustainable beachwear. The brand's focus was clear: create beachwear that marries style with sustainability.

Sourcing sustainable materials

The heart of Tyra Moana lies in its commitment to sustainability. We know that sustainability and business are both a challenge and an area for learning and development. Tyra was dedicated to sourcing the finest sustainable materials from our corner of the world in New Zealand, with a particular emphasis on 100% natural fibres. Hours were spent researching and connecting with suppliers who could offer these materials. With the goal of delivering quality, eventually, the perfect materials for our capsule collection were secured.

Crafting the Capsule Collection

The Horizon's capsule collection at Tyra Moana reflects the brand's dedication to quality and uniqueness. Each piece was meticulously designed, fitted, developed, and patterned by hand, ensuring a unique and eco-friendly product. The focus was on creating beachwear that was luxurious and would encourage slow, mindful fashion choices.

Ethical production in New Zealand

Tyra Moana's journey from inspiration to creation continued with the ethical production of its products in New Zealand. The brand's commitment to sustainability extended to the manufacturing process, ensuring that the beachwear was created in ethically responsible conditions.
